LaRue says career is over

Jason LaRue isn’t sure whether he was kicked three times, four times or five. Truth to tell, it probably doesn’t matter. Regardless of the count he will never play again.

“I’m done,” he says. “It’s a simple decision.”

“I was going to retire on my own terms,” LaRue says. “It’s unfortunate that the blow that decided it came from someone kicking me in the head with spikes. I wouldn’t say I would change things if you could rewrite history. They say things happen for certain reasons. In this case, I couldn’t tell you why. Does it suck that my career is over because Johnny Cueto started kicking me in the head? Yes, it sucks.

“I expected to walk away when I felt it was right. The bottom line: it’s unfortunate.”

And Cueto only missed a start.

I hope Cueto can’t sleep at night knowing he ruined someone’s career.

In 2013, I graduated college with a journalism degree from Northeastern University and moved to the south for a newspaper job, but have now retreated back New England for another newspaper job. I like to cook, eat, watch sports (& some really bad TV), pretend I'm awesome and, on a good week, run and do yoga as steps towards a healthy life style.

Over the last few years, my Tumblr has morphed into a running log of my Instagram, with the occasional original post or reblog. I'm making strides to change this.
